Techneos Enterprise Powers Real-Time Voting for “People’s Choice Award”
Mobile Operandi has won the people's vote at Vancouver's ASI Exchange. The wireless service company that makes mobile entertainment easy and fun was among four finalists, all category winners as selected by an imposing panel of judges earlier this month, displaying their applications and vying for the top-spot at the one-day event.
Mobile Operandi received 39 per cent of the popular vote. The voting took place in real-time using mobile data collection software provided by Techneos® Systems. The Wireless Innovation Network of British Columbia (WINBC) announced the category winners of the Wireless Innovation Contest 2004: Games and entertainment category (Mobile Operandi); Business category (Executive Wireless); Collaborative partnership category (Verrus) and student category (Stelix).
The applications were: Mophone, by Mobile Operandi, a Synchronized Content Service that lets you create, manage and distribute personalized content on your mobile phone using a synchronous web-to-wireless interface; Wireless Realty, by Executive Wireless, a software application that allows real estate agents to obtain property information, including assessment, tax data and property photos using a wireless device; the Verrus "Park..Phone..Go" service that allows motorists to pay for parking by cellphone, and also sends text message reminders to the cell phone five minutes before parking expires and allows more time to be purchased remotely; the Stelix application automatically arms and disarms laptops by sensing the proximity of the owner to their laptop.
